A pair of hockey players from southern Alberta have signed to play in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League for the 2025-26 season.

Medicine Hat’s Carter Allan of the Lethbridge Hurricanes U18 AAA team has signed with the Melfort Mustangs, and Lethbridge’s Ryker Klassen of the Dunmore-based South Alberta Hockey Academy has signed with the Weyburn Red Wings.

Allan, 17, a natural defenceman, shifted to forward partway through the season. He has 23 points in 36 games with the Hurricanes, including 11 goals, with one game remaining in the Albert Elite Hockey League season.

Also affiliated with the Medicine Hat Cubs of the Heritage Junior Hockey League for this season, he has appeared in a regular-season and a playoff game as a defenceman with the team.

He was a four-year member of the South East Athletic Club Tigers AAA team at both the U15 and U17 levels in Medicine Hat before playing in Lethbridge this season. A Hurricanes team he also affiliated with for a single game in 2024-25.

Klassen, 18, a forward, is in his third season with SAHA. He has 13 points and five goals through 25 regular-season Canadian Sport School Hockey League games with the U18 Prep team this season.

Competing with SAHA at the Circle K Classic this year, Klassen was held pointless.

At the CSSHL East-West Challenge, won by SAHA earlier this month, he had three points in five games with two goals.

He played the prior two seasons with the U17 Prep team, and played as an affiliate with the U18 Prep team during the 2024-25 season.

He previously played with the Lethbridge Val Matteotti Golden Hawks U15 AAA team during the 2022-23 season.
