Medicine Hat Tigers comeback effort falls short in 4-3 overtime defeat to the Everett Silvertips

The Medicine Hat Tigers went to overtime for the second consecutive night and found themselves in an unwanted case of deja vu, falling 4-3 to the league-leading Everett Silvertips.

Zack Shantz played overtime hero, netting his 23rd of the season with 2:06 remaining in overtime to seal the Silvertips 13th win in a row.

Jonas Woo, Andrew Basha, and Ethan Neutens netted singles for the Tabbies, with the Neutens tally coming late in the second period to tie the game up at three.

Carter Bear led the Everett offense in the first period, powering home a pair of goals, helping the ‘Tips take a 3-2 lead into the opening intermission.

Exceptional status defenseman Landon DuPont opened the scoring for the Silvertips 2:41 into the first period.

Jordan Switzer turned aside 24 of 28 shots in the defeat for the Tigers.

Anders Miller made 25 saves on 28 shots in the win for the Silvertips.

The Tigers are back in action on Family Day at 2:00 p.m. as they play host to the Red Deer Rebels in a rematch of Friday night’s 5-4 overtime defeat.
