Medicine Hat Tigers drop 5-4 overtime heartbreaker to the Red Deer Rebels

Feb 13, 2026 | 10:04 PM

The Medicine Hat Tigers would secure a point but fall short of the full two as Poul Andersen played overtime hero for the Red Deer Rebels with 38 seconds remaining in the extra frame.

Noah Davidson powered the Tiger offense with his third three-point night in his last five games, bookending the Tiger scoring.

Markus Ruck and Yaroslav Bryzgalov added the other Tiger tallies in the defeat.

The star of the game was Rebels netminder Matthew Kondro, who made a staggering 54 saves in the overtime win.

Carter Casey turned aside 19 of 24 Red Deer shots in the defeat for the Orange and Black.

The Rebels’ offense was led by a four-point showing from Beckett Hamilton, who added a pair of goals and assists in the win.

Nate Yellowaga and Talon Brigley were credited with the other Rebel goals, both coming on the powerplay.

Special teams failed the Tigers tonight, going just two for four on the penalty kill and zero for two on the man-advantage, although the Davidson game-tying goal did come just after the expiration of their second power play.

The Tigers will have little time to lick their wounds as they return home tomorrow night to battle the league-leading Everett Silvertips in a battle of two teams in the CHL Top 10.
