Liam Ruck’s last minute goal lifts the Medicine Hat Tigers past the Swift Current Broncos

Feb 6, 2026 | 10:00 PM

Persistence pays off, and that was the case for the Medicine Hat Tigers Friday night as their 50th shot of the game proved the game-winner with 28 seconds left in the third period to defeat the Swift Current Broncos 2-1.

The game-winning tally was Liam Ruck’s 30th of the season.

Liam’s twin brother, Markus, opened the scoring late in the opening frame after whiffing on a one-timer, and the puck redirected off his skate past the glove of Broncos netminder Archer Cooke.

Cooke was stellar despite the loss, turning aside 48 of 50 shots faced en route to being named the game’s first star.

Tigers netminder Jordan Switzer was strong in the win, making 15 saves in the win.

The lone Bronco tally was scored by Hudson Darby just over five minutes into the middle frame.

The teams conclude their regular season series tomorrow night in Medicine Hat.
