Medicine Hat junior bowler heading to nationals for second year in a row

A 14-year-old bowler from Panorama Lanes in Medicine Hat will be heading to nationals for a second year in a row.

Kaige Deering won the five-pin Junior Boys Provincial Singles Championship on Sunday in Red Deer with an average score of 257.33 over six games to secure a spot at the Canada-wide tournament in Winnipeg in May.

Last year, he also won provincials in the same division with an average score of 246.

His younger sister Kallie Deering, competed in the Junior Girls event at provincials, finishing sixth with an average score of 171.

Benjamin Gill was the only other bowler from Panorama Lanes who competed at the event.

The 10-year-old placed ninth in the province in the Bantam Boys category with an average score of 137.17.
