City of Medicine Hat has upcoming public engagement and survey to develop its Airport Master Plan

Jan 13, 2026 | 11:02 AM

The City of Medicine Hat will conduct public engagement as it continues to develop its Airport Master Plan.

The development of the master plan started in 2024 to guide the future of the Medicine Hat Regional Airport (YXH) and establish a long-term vision based on feedback from stakeholders, community members, and businesses.

Five pop-up events around Medicine Hat will provide public engagement opportunities.

Monday, Jan. 19

  • 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. – YXH – Main Terminal building
  • 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. – Medicine Hat Mall – Centre Court

Tuesday, Jan. 20

  • 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. – Big Marble Go Centre

Wednesday, Jan. 21

  • 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. – Station Coffee Co.
  • 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. – Medicine Hat Public Library

The City is seeking feedback on the value the airport provides to you, your priorities for shaping the airport’s vision and mission, and your view of what success looks like for the airport’s future.

An online survey will provide residents, organizations, and businesses with a chance to share their perspectives on the future of the airport.

The survey goes live on the Shape Your City project page on Monday, Jan. 19.

Residents will have until 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 8, to complete the survey.

You can stay up to date on the Airport Master Plan on the Shape Your City project page by signing up for the contact list or revisiting the page for project updates.

The What We Heard Report is also available to view.

It was drafted from the first round of engagement with over 30 primary airport stakeholders.

The report includes key themes identified from their extensive input.

Once complete, the Airport Master Plan will provide a systematic and structured approach for how YXH will support the regional air transportation needs.

It will provide guidance for airport infrastructure, making improvements aligned with projected demand, and finding new ways to help the economy and community.
