Former all-star linebacker, Grey Cup champion with Stamps, Jim Furlong, dead at 85
Jim Furlong, a West Division all-star linebacker in 1965 and Grey Cup champion in 1971, has died. He was 85.
The Calgary Stampeders announced his death on Friday. No cause was given.
Furlong played 174 games for the Stampeders from 1962-1974, ranking in the franchise’s top 10 for seasons played.
Born in Winnipeg and raised in Lethbridge, Alta., Furlond saw action as a linebacker, punter, defensive lineman and receiver over the course of his career.
