New Year’s Bash, Andrew Basha reassigned to the Medicine Hat Tigers

The Calgary Wranglers announced Friday afternoon via the AHL transaction page that 20-year-old forward Andrew Basha has been reassigned to the Medicine Hat Tigers for the remainder of the 2026 season.

Basha, a signed second-round pick of the Calgary Flames in 2024, returns for his fifth season with the Tigers after battling through injury most of last season.

This season with the Wranglers, Basha posted five points through 27 games.

“It’s a really exciting day,” said Tigers Associate Coach Joe Frazer.

“Anytime you can add a player like Andrew to your lineup it’s big,” he added.

The Calgary, Alta. native will look to make an immediate impact on this Tigers team, factoring prominently into the team’s top six, and second-ranked power play.

With the addition of Andrew, the Tigers now need to move or cut a 20-year-old before the January 8th trade deadline, meaning either Josh Van Mulligen, Misha Volotovskii, or Ethan Neutens will be near the end of their Tigers tenure.

Basha will make his season debut with the Tigers tonight as they host the Moose Jaw Warriors inside Co-op Place.
