Pickford’s first career hat-trick powers Tigers past Wild

Dec 6, 2025 | 11:01 PM

Medicine Hat Tigers captain Bryce Pickford scored his first career hat-trick to help lift the Tabbies past the Wenatchee Wild 5-1 for their seventh straight victory.

The Teddy Bear toss game went as well as it could’ve for the Orange and Black, who struck 4:17 into the opening frame to send a flurry of furries down to the ice.

Liam Ruck scored the coveted Teddy Bear goal, marking the second straight season Ruck has scored the Teddy Bear tally.

Kadon McCann picked up the closing tally, a power play marker 2:04 into the third period for his 11th of the season.

Wenatchee’s lone goal came via the man-advantage midway through the second period off an Aiden Grossklaus deflection.

Both of Wenatchee’s goals in their last two games have come on the power play.

Tigers netminder Jordan Switzer was outstanding in goal, turning aside 28 of 29 shots en route to being named the game’s third star.

Along with scoring the Teddy Bear Toss goal, Liam Ruck added a pair of assists for a three-point night, while his twin brother Markus matched his twin in the points department, picking up a trio of assists.

Following the hat-trick, Pickford now finds himself sitting second in the entire Western Hockey League in goals with 20, just one behind Kamloops Blazers forward JP Hurlbert.

Pickford also leads all Canadian Hockey League defensemen in goals.

The Tabbies continue their four-game homestand next Friday night against the Moose Jaw Warriors, where they will aim to stretch their winning streak to eight.
