Here is what’s on this weekend in Medicine Hat: November 14-16

The middle of November is here as we head into the weekend, and the Environment Canada forecast shows it.

Friday will see periods of wet snow with a high of 3 C and a nighttime low of -2 C, wind chill -6 C overnight. The evening will be partly cloudy with fog patches developing.

Saturday will see a mix of sun and cloud with fox patches clearing in the morning. Wind speeds up to 40 km/hr with a high of 13 C, and a nighttime low of -1 C with clear skies.

Sunday has a mix of sun and cloud with a high of 10 C and an evening low of -2 C with cloudy periods.

🏒 52nd Annual Hockey Hounds Tournament

THURSDAY, FRIDAY, SATURDAY, SUNDAY

The Hockey Hounds U15 AAA Tournament got underway on Thursday and will see 10 teams competing across two pools.

Games are being hosted at the Hockey Hounds Recreational Centre and both of the Kinplex Arenas until Sunday.

The South East Tigers will look to repeat as champions of the tournament after winning in 2024.

🎄 Cloth, Colour and Clay Christmas Sale

FRIDAY AND SATURDAY

The annual Christmas sale presented by the Medicine Hat Potters’ Association, Medicine Hat Art Club, and Medicine Hat Fibre Arts Club featured handmade crafts and gifts by local artists.

It takes place at the Medicine Hat College Cultural Centre on Friday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Cash is preferred for any purchases.

❄️ Winter Market at First Assembly

FRIDAY AND SATURDAY

The annual winter market at First Assembly Chuch is on Friday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

There will be 35 vendors all on the main floor.

📽 Movies at the Monarch

FRIDAY, SATURDAY, SUNDAY

The historic Monarch Theatre in downtown Medicine Hat has three days of movies.

The Disney classic The Mighty Ducks is on the screen on Friday at 7 p.m

Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey will be on the screen in the romantic comedy How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days with a 7 p.m. showing on Saturday.

The Sunday Matinee is another Disney classic, bringing the story of the Jamaican Bobsled team that competed in the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary to the big screen. Cool Runnings plays at 2 p.m.

Doors open 45 minutes before each movie.

Admission is $5, cash only; any 2 items at the concession are $5.

🎸 Kiss and Rush Tribute Concert at Esplanade

FRIDAY

IKONS, The KISS Experience, has been hitting the stage as a tribute show since 2009.

After every show, the cast comes out for a meet-and-greet and ensures everyone gets a photo with the band.

Also playing is YYC – Canada’s Tribute to the Music of Rush.

The show starts on Friday at 7:30 p.m.

🎄 Holiday Craft Market at Police Point Park

SATURDAY

A holiday craft market with a focus on sustainability and a small carbon footprint is being hosted at Police Point Park on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Crafters are local and reuse, repurpose, upcycle or recycle materials to make their items.

There is no cost to take a look.

🎸 Highwaymen Show – Great American Outlaws Tribute Concert

SATURDAY

The Highwaymen Show – Great American Outlaws Tribute Concert at the Esplanade on Saturday.

The Highwaymen Show pays tribute to the great American Outlaws of Country Music – Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings and Kris Kristofferson.

The Show covers all of the greatest hits, including “Mama Don’t Let Your Babies Grow up to be Cowboys”, “Always on My Mind”, “Me and Bobby McGee” and “Folsom Prison Blues”

The show starts at 7:30 p.m.

🏒 Medicine Hat Cubs

SATURDAY

The Medicine Hat Cubs host the High River Flyers at the Kinplex Arena on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

This will be the third meeting of the season between the two teams, with the Cubs winning the first two.

🎸 Paul Brandt and Terri Clark: Homecoming 2.0 Tour

SATURDAY

Medicine Hat’s own Terri Clark and Airdrie’s Paul Brandt will take the stage at Co-op Place Saturday night for a stop on their Homecoming 2.0 Tour.

Both country singers have put out numerous hit songs over the years.

The show starts at 7:30 p.m. with tickets available through tixx.ca.

🐍 Rattlers Athletics

SATURDAY

The Medicine Hat College Rattlers basketball teams are playing in the Snake Pit on Saturday against the Concordia University of Edmonton Thunder.

The women’s game starts at 3 p.m., with the men to follow at 5 p.m.

🏈 Grey Cup at Dayzoff Pub

SUNDAY

Dayzoff Pub will be one of several local establishments hosting the 112th Grey Cup broadcast on Sunday.

The big game starts at 4 p.m.
