The Medicine Hat Tigers‘ comeback attempt came up short Sunday evening as they overcame a two-goal deficit to secure a point, but fell 4-3 in overtime to the Tri-City Americans.

American’s forward Cruz Pavao played overtime hero, scoring the game-winner 2:07 into the extra frame.

Tigers captain Bryce Pickford was assessed a double-minor for high-sticking in the final minute of regulation, setting the stage for the eventual game-winner.

The Tigers trailed 3-1 entering the third period but scored a pair of power play goals 26 seconds apart to square the game even at three.

Jonas Woo powered the Tiger offense with a three-point night, his third multi-point game of the season.

American’s defenseman Charlie Elick also recorded a three-point night, with one goal and two assists.

Tri-City netminder Xavier Wendt stopped 23 of 26 shots in the win, while Tigers goaltender Carter Casey stopped 20 of 24 in the defeat.

The Tiger power play found its stride, going a perfect two for two on the evening.

Medicine Hat will be off until Friday when they host the Edmonton Oil Kings in a rematch of Saturday afternoon’s 6-1 defeat.
