City of Medicine Hat looking for volunteers for its Adopt-a-Rink program

Oct 30, 2025 | 2:10 PM

Volunteers are needed to help the City of Medicine Hat with its Adopt-a-Rink program at several locations in the city.

Those locations include Celebration Hill Pond, Heald Rink, Jeffries Park Rink, Kensington Park Rink, Kiwanis Central Park Rink, Leinweber Pond, River Heights Park Rink, South Ridge Community Park, and Viterra Park Rink.

According to the city, volunteers would be responsible for building ice, as well as shovelling and flooding as needed throughout the winter.

City staff will train volunteers and supply shovels, chippers and hoses, as well as assist with snow removal in large amounts once trails are cleared.

Medicine Hat resident Ryan Davison said volunteering is rewarding and helps to keep positive community spirit alive.

If community residents are interested, visit the City of Medicine Hat website to fill out a volunteer application.
