Saamis Immigration Services Launches Intercultural Workplace Integration Program

Oct 28, 2025 | 12:56 PM

Saamis Immigration Services Association has announced a new Supporting Intercultural Workplace Integration (SIWI) Program to support employers in Southeast Alberta.

The program is supported by the Alberta government.

The official website is now live, offering an overview of the initiative, and will continue to evolve as the program grows.

To foster community engagement, SIWI will host a drop-in open house on Thursday, Oct. 30, in the Southeast Alberta Chamber of Commerce boardroom.

The event runs from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m., inviting Chamber members and community stakeholders to learn more about SIWI, ask questions, and explore opportunities for collaboration.

A Workforce Development for Business Growth workshop and networking luncheon will be hosted on Thursday, Nov. 6, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Esplanade Arts & Heritage Centre.

In partnership with The Connection Intercultural Association of Medicine Hat, the interactive session will bring together HR professionals, business owners, managers, and community leaders to explore strategies for building inclusive, resilient, and growth-oriented teams.

Attendees are expected to gain practical insights and tools to attract talent, retain employees, and strengthen workplace culture.

Registration for the workshop is now open through the SIWI website.

This workshop marks the beginning of a series of training sessions planned for the new year, according to the group.

SIWI said it will continue to collaborate with local partners, including the Connection and the Chamber of Commerce, to connect with employers and to develop impactful programming that supports intercultural workplace integration across the region.
