Medicine Hat Tigers set to battle Calgary Hitmen to wrap up pair of divisional duels

Oct 4, 2025 | 11:00 AM

The Medicine Hat Tigers (3-1) prepare to welcome the Calgary Hitmen (2-1) to Co-op Place for the first of eight meetings this season.

The Tigers enter off a 4-2 win over the Lethbridge Hurricanes Friday night, improving to 3-1 on the young season.

Meanwhile, the Hitmen had last night off and enter in off a strong 6-3 win over the Edmonton Oil Kings on September 27th.

Last season, Medicine Hat had Calgary’s number, going an impressive 7-0-1-0 against the Hitmen, including a win on the final day of the regular season, securing the Central Division and Eastern Conference.

On opening night, the Hitmen had a staggering 14 skaters do rookie laps, the most in the WHL.

This year’s Calgary squad, like many around the league, looks far different than the team that the Tigers tangoed with last season.

Calgary will be without standout forward and Pittsburgh Penguins first-round pick Ben Kindel, who remains in Pennsylvania, aiming to crack the Pens’ opening night roster.

Kindel was second on the Hitmen in points last season and seventh in the WHL with 99 points in 65 games, a big piece missing for the squad from Cowtown.

Medicine Hat will look to make it seven straight wins over the Hitmen tonight while extending its winning streak to three games for the first time this season.

Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. and you can catch the pre-game show beginning at 6:30 p.m. on WILD 94.5 FM.
