Medicine Hat Police respond to report of suspicious package

The Medicine Hat Police Service responded to a report of a suspicious package located in the 300 block of South Railway Street Southeast on Tuesday, Sept. 30, at about 4:30 p.m.

Police said the package, found in a garbage bin, was wrapped in bags, tied with cords, and had an audible ticking sound.

The immediate area was cordoned off, and the MHPS explosive disposal unit was called to investigate.

After x-raying the package, it was determined not to be a risk to the public and was removed from the bin.
