Medicine Hat’s William Whaley is $100,000 richer after winning big on a WESTERN MAX ticket.

Whaley checked the ticket himself in-store and was stunned to see the prize amount.

“I was shocked,” Whaley said in a statement to the Western Canadian Lottery Corporation.

“There were a lot of zeroes, so I had to go back and count them again!”

Whaley is getting over the initial shock of his win and said he’s still planning how exactly he wants to enjoy his winnings.

“I’m honestly not too sure yet,” Whaley said.

“I’m going to let it sit in my account for a while.”

“It just feels really good to win.”

Whaley purchased his winning WESTERN MAX ticket from the Shell at 677 Division Ave. S in Medicine Hat.

He won his prize by matching six of seven numbers plus the bonus selected in the WESTERN MAX draw on Aug. 8, 2025.

His lucky numbers were two, 21, 25, 33, 35, 42, 48, and the bonus 12.
