Medicine Hat College Rattlers men’s soccer team undefeated in September

The Medicine Hat College Rattlers men’s soccer team remains undefeated with a perfect 5-0 record in regular season action in Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference competition.

Across the teams five games in September they outscored the competition 24-4.

The teams dominance was also strong in August across seven exhibition contest with four wins, two losses and a tie.

They had also outscored their opponents 16-12 over that stretch.

Striker Aleksa Bijelic leads the team in regular season goals with seven through five games, to sit in third place in the ACAC scoring race so far.

In the teams latest game against the SAIT Trojans in Calgary on Saturday, they came away with a 2-1 victory.

Heading into the contest, the teams were ranked seventh and eighth nationally with identical 4-0 records.

The Trojans jumped out to an early lead, before leading scorer Bijelic found the back of the net on a free kick, and assisted a goal from Joao Cintra shortly after.

Rattlers keeper Maksymilian Slaweta made a save late in the game off of a Trojan penalty kick to put the Rattlers on top.

Things didn’t go as well for the Rattlers women’s soccer team, as they suffered a 6-0 loss to the SAIT Trojans earlier on Saturday.

The women now sit with an even 3-3 record on the season.

The Rattlers men’s and women’s soccer teams return to action this weekend with away games against the Olds Broncos and the Red Deer Kings and Queens.

Exhibition competition for the Rattlers men’s basketball team at the Snake Pit over the weekend against the Briercrest College Clippers, had the Rattlers win 95-94 on Friday, and drop a close 108-103 game Saturday.

They have another exhibition game this weekend on the road at Olds College Friday, as does the women’s basketball team.

The Rattlers women will also take on Lethbridge Polytechnic in an exhibition match at Raymond High School on Saturday.

Cross Country Running continues this weekend on Saturday with the University of Alberta – Augustana Campus in Camrose hosting.

The exhibition season continues for the Rattlers men’s volleyball team when they host the Lethbridge Polytechnic Kodiaks Thursday at the Snake Pit at 7:30 p.m.

The Rattlers women’s hockey team kicks off the regular season with a game in Red Deer on Saturday night against the Red Deer Polytechnic Queens.

A home opener for the women’s team will be the following weekend on Saturday, Oct. 11, hosting the NAIT Ooks out of Edmonton.
