The Medicine Hat Tigers kicked off the 2025 preseason on the road Tuesday night with a 7-4 win over the Lethbridge Hurricanes.

The Tiger attack was led by the lone member of the 2025 Championship squad, Kadon McCann, who scored a hat-trick and added an assist.

Defenceman Koray Bozkaya had a stellar offensive showing, putting up four assists in the win.

Medicine Hat’s 2024 first-round pick, Luke Ruptash, looked at home alongside McCann and 19-year-old forward Dayton Reschny, netting a goal and adding a pair of assists.

Reschny stole the show with a between-the-legs goal, an early candidate for the goal of the preseason, and assisted on McCann’s hat-trick goal.

The Tigers’ cage was split between fellow 2009-born netminders Cash Christie and Quinn Beumer.

Christie made 12 saves on 15 shots faced, while Beumer made 13 saves on 14 shots against.

Medicine Hat’s next preseason game is Saturday, September 6th, in a rematch against the Lethbridge Hurricanes.

The game will be the Cats’ lone home game of the preseason before they head to Whitehorse, YK, to conclude the preseason with a pair of games against the 2026 Memorial Cup hosts, the Kelowna Rockets.
