Police deal with livestock in Ranchlands on Saturday

Aug 25, 2025 | 1:49 PM

A bull was seen wandering around in the Ranchlands area of Medicine Hat on Saturday evening.

Medicine Hat Police Services Insp. Jason Graham said its not something they see normally, but it does happen occasionally.

Bylaw and patrol officers were on site for about an hour before the owner of the bull was located and contacted.

“Just before 7 p.m., we got a call about livestock that was loose up in the northeast,” Insp. Graham said.

“The owner was located and contacted and he attended to the area and loaded the bull up on into his trailer and took it back to where it belonged,” he added.

“We’ve had similar circumstances over the years and it typically play out the same way as it did the other evening.”

The ranch the bull came from was in close proximity to the city.

Police said nobody was hurt and there wasn’t any major property damage.

“I think there was some minor property damage, that’s being looked after between the owner of the bull and the property owners, but nothing significant,” Insp. Graham said.
