Medicine Hat Exhibition & Stampede grandstand funding decision postponed

Medicine Hat City Council postponed a decision on funding for the Medicine Hat Exhibition & Stampede grandstand until the Sept. 2 council meeting.

Medicine Hat Exhibition and Stampede general manager Ron Edwards said he wanted more dialogue with city staff on the grandstand designs.

If approved at a future meeting, the city would grant the stampede group up to a maximum of $15,896,250 funded through operating reserves for the project.

The total would represent half of the overall costs, and would also be contingent on the province providing 40 per cent of the overall costs, and the stampede group coming up with the remaining 10 per cent.
