Here is what’s on this weekend in Medicine Hat: August 15-17

It’s the middle of August, only a few more weekends before the school year is upon us.

The weather could fluctuate with rain expected and thunderstorm potential, according to Environment Canada.

Friday will see a mix of sun and cloudy, with a 30 per cent cance of showers early in the afternoon with the risk of a thunderstorm and a high of 27 C and a low of 14 C.

Saturday the sun and cloud mix returns with against, a 30 per cent chance of showers late in the afternoon and risk of a thunderstorm with a high of 30 C and low of 13 C.

Sunday is continues to be a mix of sun and cloud with a high of 28 C and low of 12 C.

Here is what’s on in Medicine Hat and area this weekend.

📽 ️Outdoor Movie

FRIDAY

South Country Co-op is host their first outdoor cinema located in the back parking lot of the 13th Avenue grocery store on Friday night, after it was cancelled last Friday.

Bring the lawn chairs and family to enjoy a showing of Inside Out 2 starting at dusk, at approximately 8:45 p.m.

This is a free community event, with donation encouraged to the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital pediatric unit through the Medicine Hat Health Foundation.

Proceeds from popcorn sales will also support the pediatric unit.

The first 25 kid’s club members to show up, get a free snack goodie bag.

The grocery store will remain open during the showing and those who show up will get a 10 per cent off coupon to use there.

🚴BMX Races

FRIDAY/SATURDAY/SUNDAY

The Medicine Hat BMX club is hosting provincials as well as the Canada Cup BMX Race throughout this weekend.

Located at the track on the north end of Medicine Hat near the Big Marble Go Centre.

Some of the top riders in the province and country will be competing.

Fans are encouraged to come watch.

There will be a concession on site.

🚗 Demolition Derby

SATURDAY

Medicine Hat Speedway hosts Metal Mayhem Demolition Derby on Saturday.

Gates open at 2 p.m. with the event starting at 3 p.m.

There will be a meet and great with popular social media influencer What? Nooo Waaay! Guy.

A transmission toss competition will take place, as well as a kids power wheels competition.

🎸Grains to Glory Festival

SATURDAY

The Grain to Glory Festival is being hosted at the old Ogilvie Flour Mill location, 1222 Allowance Ave SE. beginning Saturday at 11 a.m.

Hosted by 12Twenty2 Ltd., the all-day celebration is free to attend and packed with excitement:

👩‍🌾Alberta Open Farm Days

FRIDAY AND SATURDAY

TRAD Worm Industries in Cypress County is one of 160 participants in Alberta Open Farm Days, and the only one within close proximity to Medicine Hat.

The farm located at 12317 Range Road 65 just off of Holsom Road, west of Medicine Hat will be open to visitors Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.

Visitors are encouraged to let them know they are coming online, although it’s not necessary to RSVP.

TRAD specializes in vermicomposting and organic waste recovery.

A hands on look at the world of worms and soil health will be on display.

The will also be a giveaway, and a chance to eat some honey.

🎸Dunmore Days

SATURDAY

Dunmore Days is being hosted by the Dunmore Community Association on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Sunrise Park, 601 10th Street in Dunmore.

A pancake breakfast starts things off in the morning from 9-11 a.m.

There will be kids activities, a silent auction, face painting, kids crafts, ballon animals and more.

A family dance with a DJ runs from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

There will also be Karaoke at 8 p.m.

Food and drink services will be onsite, along with a Beer Garden from noon to 9 p.m.
