Additional free parking now available in Medicine Hat’s Towne Square

Jul 24, 2025 | 12:33 PM

The City of Medicine Hat is offering additional parking spots in Town Square without a cost.

Six new free parking stalls are now available in what the city says is a continued effort to enhance accessibility and support downtown businesses.

The stalls are located in the southeast section of the lot and labelled with signage for free two-hour use Monday through Friday, between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Outside of these hours, and on weekends, the entire lot remains free of charge to the public.

This new initiative will be in effect until the end of 2026, the city said in a news release.

“Creating a vibrant downtown means removing barriers and finding new ways to encourage people to linger, explore, and engage with local businesses,” said Selena McLean-Moore, director of Medicine Hat Economic Development.

“These additional short-term parking spaces are just one example of how we’re investing in innovative approaches to build a more accessible and thriving city core.”

Additional information on parking in downtown Medicine Hat is available through the city website.
