Medicine Hat U13 Jr. Mavs off to little league championship for second year

The Medicine Hat U13 Jr. Mavs are heading to Kingston, Ont. for the Canadian Little League Intermediate Championship.

The Mavs team took home the Alberta Intermediate Division Championship on Saturday in Edmonton.

With several players on the team for last years U12 AAA Major Mavs teams that came one win away form a national Little League title getting a second chance in Kingston.

Last year, a heartbreaking 10-1 loss to Team BC in the final game of the tournament for the Mavs U12 AAA squad gave them silver, after taking top spot in the round robin.

This year the team will start things off by taking on Team Quebec on Wednesday in their first game of nationals at 8:30 a.m.

They will play a game each day through Saturday before playoffs start next week on Tuesday.

The championship and bronze medal games both go Wednesday, July 23.
