Jun 23, 2025 | 5:00 AM

Voters go to the polls in three Alberta byelections Monday — including one where the opposition leader is hoping to win a seat.

Alberta NDP leader Naheed Nenshi is running in Edmonton-Strathcona after a year of sitting on the sidelines.

His predecessor Rachel Notley last won 80 per cent of the vote in Edmonton-Strathcona.

Votes are also being held in Edmonton-Ellerslie, as well as in Olds-Didsbury-Three Hills in central Alberta.

Nenshi urged supporters in Medicine Hat during a town hall last year to build engage with neighbours and friends to build up momentum ahead of the next provincial election.

Alberta’s next election is scheduled for October 2027.
