Bandits look to even BCHL finals series up after double OT loss

May 21, 2025 | 10:12 AM

The Brooks Bandits will look to bounce back Wednesday night after dropping a 5-4 decision to the Chilliwack Chiefs in double overtime on Tuesday.

The BCHL finals remains in Chilliwack for Game 4 with the Chiefs up 2-1 in the series.

Bandits goaltender Zach Zahara turned aside 46 shots in the loss, while forward Parker Lalonde netted a hat trick for the Bandits.

A video review took away what would have been another Lalonde goal for the Bandits in the first overtime period with officials ruling their was goaltender interference.

Over 13 minutes into the second overtime period Chiefs captain Mateo Mrsic scored his second of the game to give Chilliwack the win.

Mrsic is the older brother of former Medicine Hat Tigers forward Tomas Mrsic, who now plays for the WHL’s Prince Albert Raiders.

The loss gave the Bandits their first back-to-back game defeat of the playoffs, and only their fourth loss since the BCHL post season began.

Game 4 starts with an 8 p.m. puck drop on Wednesday.

The Bandits will be back at home for Game 5 Friday at 7 p.m. at the Centennial Regional Arena.
