Traffic disruption at bottom of Dunmore Hill intersection with gas infrastructure repair

May 13, 2025 | 4:00 PM

The City of Medicine Hat said an unplanned repair of gas infrastructure began Tuesday at the bottom of Dunmore Hill and is restricting traffic flow.

The repair is located at the intersection of Spencer Street Southeast and Dunmore Road Southeast.

Northbound from Dunmore Road Southeast to Kingsway Avenue Southeast is unable to make a left hand turn onto Spencer Street Southeast.

Southbound from Kingsway Avenue Southeast to Dunmore Road Southeast the left lane may only turn left onto eastbound Spencer Street Southeast.

Westbound on Spencer Street Southeast the left turning lane is closed, with the right lane remaining available to turn left.

Eastbound on Spencer Street Southeast the right lane is right turn only.

The work does not affect the use of Saratoga Trail and pedestrian access around the intersection is maintained.

Crews are repairing a gas pipeline which may release a slight gas odour but presents no public risk, the city says.

According to the city, work should be complete Wednesday with repaving and reopening expected Thursday.

They also remind motorists to obey all posted construction signage and use caution around the work zone.
