A rollercoaster of emotions took place at a home in Medicine Hat on Saturday.

Elic Ayomanor was selected in the fourth round of the National Football League draft with the 136th overall pick.

Pam Weiterman, his mother, was part of the moment.

Weiterman said their immediate family and friends were hanging out at their home, along with Elic, enjoying the draft over the three days it took place.

Weiterman said there was a lot of pressure with the expectations and projections of where Elic could potentially be drafted.

“”The stress of it all was a lot. I mean, it’s a great experience because you’re drafted to the NFL,” Weiterman said

“But it’s kind of like hell on wheels. I’m not going to lie,” she added.

“When his name was called, it was, it was the hugest relief.”

Weiterman said that the Titans getting Elic to catch passes from their first overall pick Cameron Ward is a match made in heaven.

She added she doesn’t know if people realize the work ethic Elic has and the amount of hours he spends perfecting his craft.

Weiterman said having the entire country back you is pretty epic for her son and she has been flooded with support over the past few days.

The moment Ayomanor was picked was filled with emotion.

“He was downstairs in his room. But I got the text from the agent, and all it said was Titans,” Weiterman said.

“I just bolted downstairs and well, I think he maybe heard. We were just crying. Yeah, it’s good.”

Weiterman said she is thankful to Medicine Hat and everybody for their support.
