108 kg of cocaine seized at Coutts border, fourth major bust in as many months

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) has made yet another large seizure of drugs at the Coutts border crossing in southern Alberta.

On March 8, 2025, they say a commercial transport vehicle was pulled aside for a secondary inspection.

The driver said their load originated from the United States.

Inside the vehicle, officers claim to have found 108 kilograms of cocaine. It has an estimated street value of $2.16 million.

The CBSA, RCMP and Calgary Police Service worked together to arrest the accused suspect.

Ben Tame, CBSA Director of Southern Alberta and Southern Saskatchewan District, says stopping drugs from entering Canada is part of their commitment to keeping the country’s communities and streets safe.

“This significant seizure demonstrates the important work being done by our border services officers as we continue to secure and protect our border alongside our law enforcement partners, the RCMP and the Calgary Police Service,” says Tame.

Arshdeep Singh, 26, of Calgary, is charged with one count each of importing a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance.

He is scheduled to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Lethbridge on May 7, 2025.

This is the fourth time since November 2024 that the CBSA has seized large quantities of drugs at the Coutts border crossing.

Between the four incidents, officers have stopped approximately 525 kilograms of drugs worth over $7 million from entering Canada.
