Spring forward: Time to change the clocks this weekend

Mar 7, 2025 | 10:02 AM

Albertans will join much of North America this weekend in adjusting their clocks to reflect the arrival of Daylight Saving Time.

Alberta voted 50.2 per cent in a 2021 referendum to continue the twice yearly practice of changing their clocks.

Officially, Alberta will move from Mountain Standard Time to Mountain Daylight Time at 2 a.m. Sunday.

Most people will move their clocks ahead one hour prior to going to bed on Saturday night.

Saskatchewan does not take part in the time change, and remains on Standard time year round.

A small corner of southwestern British Columbia, including Creston, will stay on Mountain Standard time, with the rest of the province catching up to the normal one hour time difference with the switch to Pacific Daylight Time.
