Extreme cold warning lifted for Medicine Hat, remains for Foremost

Feb 6, 2025 | 9:20 AM

An extreme cold warning was lifted for Medicine Hat and much of southern Alberta but remains in place for now in Foremost.

Extreme cold warnings are issued when very cold temperatures or wind chill creates an elevated risk to health such as frost bite and hypothermia.

Wind chill values dropped to nearly -40 C overnight in some areas, according to an Environment Canada alert.

The national weather service asked Canadians to watch for cold-related symptoms that include shortness of breath, chest pain, muscle pain and weakness, numbness and colour change in fingers and toes.
