There has been a lot of excitement and buzz on social media about when Taco Bell will open it’s doors in Medicine Hat.

The wait is almost over, as it officially opens Tuesday morning at 10 a.m.

But Monday, a 12-year old girl who lives nearby got to be the first guest to eat food from the new location.

Isla Studer said it was her first time having Taco Bell, and her interest to become the first came from her attachment to the location.

“This used to be a Petro Canada and I would come here all the time, and then I was pretty sad when I found out it wasn’t going to be here anymore,” Studer said.

“But then when I found out this was happening. I just wanted to see if I could be the first customer and it worked.”

Studer was able to enjoy her meal with her dad Orv.

She said it was really good, and likely a place she will come back to often.

Kulwinder More, director of operations for the Redberry-owned Taco Bell’s in western Canada said it was awesome to have Isla come in, and she is looking forward to the opening.

“It’s going to be amazing how many people are walking in and asking us like since we started training,” More said.

“We’ve been training our team for the last couple weeks and how many people walking in and asking when we open. We expect it’s going to be very busy.”

More adds that Medicine Hat is a vibrant community and they are thrilled to be here.
