The fifth annual Canadian Ski Patrol Ski Swap is also taking place in Medicine Hat this weekend.

Those looking to sell or donate equipment are asked to bringing it in on Friday between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. at the South Ridge YMCA.

John Haley, ski swap coordinator, said they are promoting the Canadian Ski Patrol while selling used and new equipment.

“Any of the proceeds that we derive from this…goes into our safety programs internally in the Ski Patrol here in Medicine Hat in the Palliser Zone,” Haley said.

“It also goes for the purchase of equipment such as AEDs, oxygen bottles, blackboards, spine boards, other first aid related equipment.”

All ski equipment brought in will be screened to assure it is safe.

They will take donations but will also offer and help with the consignment process.

The one-day sales event starts on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Those selling or buying ski equipment at the ski swap are asked to use the YMCA entrance nearest to Notre Dame Academy.

The Canadian Ski Patrol will have flagpoles and a board set up.

Haley said they expect to see close to a thousand sets of equipment on site, as they already have a large collection.

“One of our biggest sponsors is Alpenland Store in Lethbridge that brings 550 sets of between used and brand new equipment,” Haley said.

“For the best choice and selection, get there early. Last year, we had 275 people come through in the first 15 minutes.”

Used helmets, clothing, and out of date ski equipment won’t be accepted for consignment or donation.
