Police find loaded shotgun in Medicine Hat hotel

A Medicine Hat man was arrested after police located a loaded sawed-off shotgun in a hotel room, according to a news release on Tuesday.

The Medicine Hat Police Service was conducting follow-up investigations at a hotel on Redcliff Drive Southwest on Sept. 10 and found the gun inside one of the rooms.

The lone 51-year-old male occupant was charged with possession of a weapon dangerous to the public, unauthorized possession of a weapon and restricted firearm and careless use or storage of a firearm.

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear in Medicine Hat provincial court on Nov. 20.
