Here is what’s on during the weekend of Aug. 9-11 in Medicine Hat and area:

It promises to be a mouthwatering weekend, organizers say.
The 2024 edition of Medicine Hat’s Western Canada Ribfest gets underway Friday morning in the parking lot behind the Medicine Hat Lodge.
It runs 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is free.
There will also be various competitions and some entertainment available.

The Cars and Guitars festival gets underway at 4 p.m. Saturday on the Medicine Hat Exhibition and Stampede grounds.
A grandstand concert will feature CRR tribute band Canadian Coldwater Revival and Morgan Klaiber.
The car and trade shows run from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. and the $23 concert starts at 7 p.m. A tailgate gets underway at 4 p.m.

The Town Square block parties continue this weekend.
The theme for Saturday’s party is car culture.
The free event runs from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The Gospel in the Park concert runs from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m on Sunday, weather permitting.
The free concert will be hosted by Delivering Hope at the Kin Coulee Park bandshell.

The second annual Botanicals Night Market gets underway at 5 p.m. and runs until 10 p.m. on Saturday.
Organizers describe it as a “celebration of sunny summer nights and supporting local.”
The event is taking place at Botanicals.

Historic walking tours continue this weekend.
The tours this year feature character actors for the first time as a way to bring Medicine Hat’s history to life.

The Alberta Pound and Rescue Centre of Medicine Hat is hosting a dog adoption event on Saturday.
The adoption drive, hosted by Rebark by True North, runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at APARC.
An organizer said the event is also about how APARC’s dogs react being outside the shelter.
