City of Medicine Hat hosting weekend block parties this summer

Jun 12, 2024 | 8:50 AM

Nearly every Saturday this summer until the Labour Day long weekend, Hatters might notice the downtown core will be a little more lively than usual.

For the first time ever, the city will be hosting 11 separate block parties at Towne Square, each with a different theme, including celebrations of music, car culture and nature.

Food trucks, bouncy castles, small businesses and live music will be present at every block party.

Organizer Jessica Siwy said that she’s hoping the community embraces events as there’s something planned for everyone.

“I think the idea of just a block party and, as I’ve mentioned before, just getting that community together, giving everyone a space to show off their talents that they have in this town is just really exciting,” Siwy said.

“Having those different themes each week, just gives everyone a reason to come out. There’s something for everyone. We’re excited for that.”

The first block party is themed Celebrating Nature and will run between noon and 4 p.m.
