Christian Doll, the son of Wild 94.5 program director Mike Doll, passed away Friday from injuries sustained in an accident.

The Doll family said in a post to social media that the decision was made to allow Christian to be an organ donor, impacting the lives of as many as eight families.

The following is a post from Mike Doll:

We are heartbroken to share with you that our son, brother and grandson, Christian Doll, passed away. Our family is devastated. The accident he was involved in and the resulting injuries, were too much to recover from. He passed Friday night, while being surrounded for his final days and hours by our families and special family friends.

We supported each other and Christian as much as we could in a senseless reality that no family should ever face. As his parents, when the time came that we had exhausted all options to help our beautiful boy, we were asked about organ donation.

Organ donation is something that makes the tragedy go on longer as time is needed to place the organs with the proper recipients. We were assured Christian couldn’t feel any pain so we agreed. He would want to help other kids and families.

We know what we were going through as a family, losing Christian and we now, very unfortunately, understand what other families are going through when faced with losing their child, brother, sister, mom or dad.

There was no answer for our precious boy but he could be the answer and game changer for as many as eight people. We gave the organ placement team 24 hours to match recipients. Overnight, all organs were matched with recipients.

We didn’t know before but Christian’s blood type is O+. He was basically a universal donor. We hope, someday, to meet some of the kids and people that Christian saved through his ultimate donation.

One of the pictures you see is 3 heart necklaces, given only to organ donors. Each came with two pieces. Christian had one piece hung around his neck by his mom Josie, his sister Mikka and myself, his dad Mike. Christian’s mom, dad and sister each have the other half of the heart.

Our family doesn’t have any answers on a Celebration of Life for Christian yet. While it’s impossible to put something together that captures everything that Christian was, we want to take our time to ensure we create a memorial that represents Christian as best as we can.

When we know, we will post, so as many of our friends and family as possible can come out to remember Christian and celebrate his life that was senselessly cut too short. We thank everyone amongst our family, friends and community that have supported our family in so many ways over the last week. We are grateful for that.

We know that his “Grandma Lethbridge” has welcomed him into heaven and will have her arms around him.
