Jul 1, 2024 | 7:00 AM

The library is a wonderful place to find new books, but there’s more going on than just flipping through pages.

Here are the top five things to do at the Medicine Hat Public Library for July 2024.

Screen-Free Summer

Starts July 2

  • Playground Passport (ages 0-9) – Get your passport at the Kinsmen Children’s Library, stamp it when you visit our city’s playgrounds and return it to us by Sept. 3 to be entered in a prize draw.
  • Screen-Free Summer Tween Kit (ages 10-12) – Pick up a kit at the Kinsmen Children’s Library and find great ideas, a bingo and challenges to take a break from screens and enjoy real-world activities. Return your sheet by July 31 and Sept. 3 for the chance to win prizes. Kits are first-come, first-served.
  • Summer Exploring Challenge (ages 13-19) – Get a challenge card at the info desk and visit teen-friendly hangout spots in Medicine Hat. Bring your completed card back by Sept. 4 to get in on a prize draw.
  • Screen-Free Bingo for Adults – Get a Screen-Free Bingo Card from the info desk and complete the tasks to finish lines. Each completed line gets you a ballot for a summer prize draw. Return your sheet by Aug. 31.

Wheel of Reading

July 2-4, 9-11, 16-18, 23-25 and 30-31

Children are encouraged to come in Tuesday through Thursday to spin the Wheel of Reading! Let the wheel decide your next great read and win prizes courtesy of the TD Summer Reading Club.

This is the ultimate weekly video game program for teens. There will be games for all skill and interest levels on various consoles.

Tween Nights

July 4 and 18, 6 p.m.

We have two Tween Nights in July. At the first we’ll play classic camp games that will ensure friendly competitions and plenty of laughter. The second is all about board games and we’ll have games for casual players and board game enthusiasts. Registration is required.
