Brooks Bandits will take on Okotoks Oilers in 2024 home opener

Jun 19, 2024 | 12:30 PM

The Brooks Bandits has confirmed the date and opponent for the 2024-25 season home opener that will kick off its first full campaign in a new league.

The Bandits will take on the Okotoks Oilers on Sept. 21 at the Centennial Regional Arena.

The Bandits won the final game of a close series with the Oilers during its Alberta division playoffs run the last time the two teams faced off.

The Bandits went on to win the Alberta playoffs of the British Columbia Hockey League before taking on the top team from the B.C. division in a one-off exhibition championship.

The Bandits and several other teams defected from the Alberta Junior Hockey League in the spring to join the BCHL, where they were placed in a contained Alberta division.

Next season, however, the Bandits will be moved into a new division that features teams based in B.C. and play for the league’s championship, kicking off a new era for the franchise.
