If you have any hazardous waste or electronics that you need to get rid of, there is an event in Lethbridge for you this weekend.

On Saturday, June 1 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., the City hosts a recycling roundup. It will take place in the northwest parking lot at the Park Place Shopping Centre.

The roundup will accept the follow:

  • Any items that display the hazard symbols (corrosive, flammable, reactive/explosive, toxic/poison), including but not limited to:
    • Pesticide/herbicide
    • Cleaning products
    • Automotive cleaning and maintenance products
    • Aerosol containers
  • Paint, solvent stain and related items
  • Used oil
  • Batteries
  • Electronics (battery powered and anything with a cord)

Items that are over 20 litres (five gallons), as well as needles/biomedical materials will NOT be accepted. More on what can and cannot be dropped is available by using the Waste Wizard at the City of Lethbridge website. Residents can also contact 311 with any questions.

The recycling roundup was first initiated by City Council in the summer of 2022. It encourages citizens to keep household hazardous waste and electronics out of their curbside carts and provides an easy location to drop off items within city limits.
