Gas City Campground is opening earlier than expected while the warm weather construction season gets underway in Medicine Hat.

A thunderstorm warning has also been issued for the region.

Two major roadways are impacted by projects starting today.

Altawana Drive is closed from Parkview Drive Northeast to the intersection to Seventh Street North, as work begins on replacing aging water and sewer mains.

Crews will also be repaving Altawana Hill, and a detour will take motorists up Parkview Drive to 12th Street Northeast.

Road construction has begun on Dunmore Road from Southview Drive to Spencer Street. The project involves removing the top level of asphalt and replacing it with new pavement.

Six Avenue Southeast between Second Street Southeast and Third Street Southeast downtown is closed for a water and sewer main replacement.

Alberta transportation will work on storm water systems in the Kin Coulee dip starting today, with single lane traffic restrictions in both directions.
