Medicine Hat residents still waiting on refund from Southern Alberta K9 First Aid

A group of Medicine Hat residents are seeking a refund from Southern Alberta K9 First Aid for services they pre-paid for and were never provided.

The services offered included first aid, training and teeth scaling for dogs, as well as first aid kits.

The company based out of Vulcan was scheduled to host the sessions at All Dogs Great and Small Daycare in Medicine Hat back in October.

Appointments were pushed back multiple times, and eventually cancelled.

Attempts to get a refund from K9 First Aid have been made by individuals across several provinces where the company was scheduled to provide the services.

Terri Morris is still owed money and wants others in the same situation to reach out to her.

“You can be added to the list, we’re hoping that a bit of pressure will encourage the owner to refund people,” Morris said.

“Otherwise, we are going to look at taking it a bit further to see if there’s anything else that can be done,” she added.

“We’re just trying to bring awareness within Medicine Hat.”

Two individuals did receive refunds late last week, but many are still waiting.

Adam Jones, owner of All Dogs Great and Small Daycare, is included in those still without a refund.

“She currently has outstanding refund for us for $464,” Jones said.

“We’ve been pursuing that. I think since November,” he added.

“We’ve been trying to get that back. We’ve been promised multiple times and no delivery on that.”

Jones is taking contact information from those who are still owed a refund and passing that information on to Morris.

He can be reached through his business All Dogs Great and Small.

Jones is hoping to see everybody get their money back.

“You know, that’s the number one thing a service was promised, but not delivered,” Jones said.

“Those people are deserved a refund.”

Morris also encourages people to file a consumer complaint through the Government of Alberta.

“You can contact them, they’ll briefly run through the situation, and then you do need to fill in a report,” Morris said.

“Then they’ll do an investigation,” she added.

“Now this just covers the business itself, it doesn’t get anybody their refund back.”

Southern Alberta K9 First Aid was an independent contractor through Canine Health Canada, who had their licence revoked for breach of code of conduct in September.

Lisa Kreiger, owner of K9 First Aid, said she has issued refunds for those who did not request their money back through the Square point-of-sale system.

“Whoever asked for a refund via Square, there is no way for me to override that,” Kreiger told CHAT News.

“Anyone that hasn’t put a claim through Square has already received payment via e-transfers.”

This is something that Jones and Morris feel is strange as they both operate a business with the same point of sale system.

Meanwhile, those who have not received their refund will continue trying to find strength in numbers to get their investment back.
