MEDICINE HAT — Medicine Hat Tigers forward Cayden Lindstrom is one of six players in the Western Hockey League to earn an “A” rating in the first listing of Players to Watch from NHL Central Scouting.

The ‘”A” category indicates players projected to be first-round candidates.

The other five players to earn an “A” rating are Calgary Hitmen defenceman Carter Yakemchuk, Regina forward Tanner Howe, forward Adam Jecho of the Edmonton Oil Kings, Prince Albert Raiders forward Ryder Ritchie and forward Berkly Catton of the Spokane Chiefs.

Lindstrom, 17, has 10 goals and 5 assists through the first 12 games for the Tigers this season.

He also won a gold medal as a member of Team Canada at this past summer’s Hlinka-Gretzky Cup.

Teamate Andrew Bashaw was rated as a “B” prospect, indicating a second or third round selection in the June draft.

Centre Tomas Mrsic was identified as a “C” prospect which would put him into the 4th or 5th round of the draft.

Second year centre Shane Smith was rated as a possible 6th or 7th round pick in the June draft.

63 players from the Western Hockey League were listed by Central Scouting, one more than the Ontario Hockey League.

36 players from the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League were also listed.

The Brooks Bandits of the Alberta Junior Hockey League also had 4 players identified by Central Scouting.
