Six of 15 aging healthy projects now operating in Alberta
Fifteen projects to help seniors maintain well-being, independence and safety in their homes and communities are now being funded by the provincial government, in collaboration with Healthy Aging Alberta.
Six were awarded in July 2022 and are now operating, with another nine announced this June, all at a price tag of $2.1 million.
The province notes that these non-medical services range from social and emotional supports to help with everyday tasks such as housekeeping, yard and snow removal, transportation, and meal delivery.
“Communities rely on older adults, and older adults rely on their communities. The Government of Alberta’s commendable commitment to supporting both the well-being of seniors and the community-based senior-serving organizations reflects this shared understanding,” Karen McDonald, provincial director for Healthy Aging Alberta, said Wednesday.
