The Medicine Hat Mavericks loading up the bus to drive to Moose Jaw Saskatchwan

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Tonight, the Medicine Hat Mavericks will play game one of the east division final series. They’ll be facing the Moose Jaw Miller Express.

Earlier today, the Mavs were loading up a bus to travel to Saskatchewan. Moose Jaw was ranked higher in the regular season, meaning game one of playoffs is on their turf, and game two will be in Medicine Hat tomorrow.

Leading up to this game, the Mavericks defeated the Regina Red =Sox with ease in the semis. The Moose Jaw Miller Express also had a simple path, sweeping the Swift Current 57’s.

However, this year’s east matchup has many feeling deja vu. Last year the Miller Express defeated the Mavericks in the east finals. However, two Mavs players say they aren’t concerned about repeating last year’s loss, their advantage being strong dedication and commitment to the team.

“Well, we were here last year against them, so we’re in the same position looking for a different outcome than it was last year. For strategy, I think we just gotta stick to what we’re doing. Everyone is rolling in all cylinders, and just leave it all out there, you know? It’s a three game series so it can go by fast, so every pitch matters, every at bat matters,” said Jack Suhai, right-handed relief pitcher.

Dominic Vandoorne, catcherfor the Mavericks added, “some of the other teams in the league are starting to lose their players, but credit to Greg Morrison, the owner, for putting together a group of guys that want to stay and want to see this thing through to the end. So our locker room has never been stronger. We just bonded so well that no matter what the score is out on the field, we know we can come back from anything.”

TIckets to tomorrow’s game at Athletic Park are still available here.
