Foundation in need of volunteers for bottle drive tomorrow

MEDICINE HAT, AB – A shortage in resources to help provide animals in need has led a foundation to host a bottle drive on Saturday.

The Furry Friends Foundation will have a truck set up from the Shamrock Bottle Depot at Crescent Heights high school from 10-6 p.m., where people can drop off their bottle donations. The foundation has seen a climbing rate of stray cats and dogs around the city.

The proceeds from the fundraiser will go towards purchasing food for cats and dogs in desperate need. April Johnson, a board member and volunteer for the foundation says they are in desperate need of help.

“It’s tremendous because we are running with a really low budget. So it’s just tremendous when we can get money in.”

The foundation is still in need of volunteers to come out on Saturday.

“We are needing volunteers for other activities that we are going to be doing. We want to get together and have a volunteer base. We are always in need of volunteers,” says Johnson

Those wanting to help can also donate their bottles to the Shamrock Bottle Depot on their behalf.
