Taber corn is back in Medicine Hat, and earlier than expected

MEDICINE HAT, AB – It’s that time of the year again, or is it? Taber corn is back in Medicine Hat, but its arrival to the city has come earlier than anticipated.

Taber’s famous corn is an annual smash hit around the province every summer, with people flocking to stands to buy the delicious crop.

Brianne Hafso works at the stand located on Dunmore Road just outside Dollar Tree. She has worked at the corn stand in previous years and has seen how popular the crop is with locals. She says the first day has been as busy as she was expecting it to be.

“Today was crazy, today has been really busy. This summer, I am hoping is like every other summer, steady and I mean everyone loves corn so we are always steady,” Hafso said on Friday.

Despite the crop arriving earlier, Hafso says that people are excited to see the popular crop from the fields surrounding Taber available for purchase.

“I think the community loves it, I love it, we’re back in business already earlier than expected so we can’t complain there, I think everybody is happy the corn is back early so happy community, happy business, we’re good.”

Sales of Taber corn are expected to continue well into September as summer comes to a close. The annual CornFest celebrated in Taber will take place from August 24-26.
