HALO Day: patient credits air ambulance for saving her life

Jul 13, 2023 | 4:52 PM

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Three years ago Christine Dorohoy was involved in a terrible accident after a horse she was riding fell and rolled over her at a ranch outside Schuler.

Dorohoy’s children called 911 and within 15 minutes HALO Air Ambulance was on the scene ready to transport her to the hospital. Dorohoy entered an induced coma for over a month and spent several months recovering.

She credits the quick response and talented staff with HALO with saving her life.

“They are out there to save lives. They are meant to be. If it wasn’t for HALO, like I said, I don’t know what state I would be in but HALO saved my life. I love my life-savers, they are family but everything is important, so please if anybody can donate I would absolutely love it if that’s possible,” says Dorohoy.

“If it wasn’t for them I don’t know how good of condition I would be in,” she adds.

On Thursday, Dorohoy joined the teams at WILD 94.5 and MY96 who were on location at Adapt Mobility on Trans-Canada Way for HALO Day. All day long they were taking donations and sharing stories of people who have been impacted or saved by HALO Air Ambulance.

Donations to keep HALO in the sky can be made here. Please make sure to include ‘HALO Day’ in your donation.

“HALO is super important for everybody, not just for me. All the farmers everywhere they can go, they are needed so desperately,” explains Dorohoy.
