
Western Canada premiers meet in Whistler to discuss economy, wildfires
WHISTLER, BC – Premiers from Western Canada’s provinces and territories met in Whistler on Tuesday to discuss issues ranging from diversifying economies to the ongoing wildfire crisis that is impacting much of the country.
The premiers pledged to work together and with the federal government to help support communities threatened by the wildfires and to make sure that adequate resources are available to keep people safe and protect homes.
Premiers discussed topics on strategic infrastructure, climate initiatives and sustainable development, energy security, immigration, labour markets, Arctic security, and community safety.
The premiers expect both provincial and federal governments to take step in making life more affordable for Canadians as well as positioning Canada in a path of prosperity and economic renewal. The premiers emphasized the need for addressing critical fiscal and infrastructural challenges in the northern regions of Canada.
