Canada Day headlined by events at Stampede Grounds and Kin Coulee Park

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Saturday marks 156 years since Canadian Confederation on July 1, 1867. To mark Canada Day, Medicine Hat will see two major events happening around the city.

The Medicine Hat Exhibition & Stampede will be hosting amenities from food trucks to live singing to family activities with the popular firework display ending the night off at 11:00 p.m. The day will open with a free pancake breakfast at 9 a.m.

Ron Edwards of the Medicine Hat Exhibition and Stampede says that he expects thousands to show up throughout the day.

“In the past, we’ve had some great participation from all of our volunteers, groups and patrons, and this year we have a pancake breakfast so this year we’re starting even earlier, I’m sure we’re gonna be very, very busy. Walking through the grounds from morning to night, I would say eight to ten thousand people are expected,” Edwards said on Wednesday.

At Kin Coulee Park, the Medicine Hat Skateboard Association is hosting Beat the Heat. Food trucks, bouncy castles and performances from numerous skateboarders will highlight the day down in Kin Coulee. The day will also begin with a pancake breakfast at 8 a.m., cooked by the Root Cellar Food and Wellness Hub.

Saturday is expected to have a high of 34 degrees C, so it is important to make sure that you are cooling off and staying hydrating whenever you feel the need to. Visit the Medicine Hat Exhibition & Stampede and Medicine Hat Skateboard Association for full details on events.
