Feed relief for ag producers in southwestern Saskatchewan

May 17, 2023 | 11:32 AM

Some Saskatchewan producers will be able to get extra help to cover the cost of transporting feed after theirs was damaged.

Federal Agriculture Minister Marie-Claude Bibeau and Saskatchewan Agriculture Minister David Marit have announced a supplemental freight adjustment to reflect higher-than-normal replacement feed costs.

Marit says in southwestern Saskatchewan, some producers suffered multiple years of dry conditions and experienced an increase of wildlife damage.

He says to maintain herds, some needed to travel throughout the province to replace feed damaged by wildlife.
